How to highlight your strengths in your resume
The theater begins with a hanger, and the job search begins with a resume. It would seem that today even a university graduate knows how to write this, without exaggeration, fateful document. But if you want your resume to reassure employers that you are a valuable specialist, it is not enough just to list your work and school experience.
What kind of experience to describe?
It happens to many job seekers: it seems that you have experience, and appropriate education, and resumes are sent every day to several places, but still no invitation for an interview. What is the problem?
Carefully read the job announcement and try to understand which of the above requirements you meet one hundred percent. These will be your strengths.
If you don't meet them completely.
And what about the requirements for the candidate that you meet, but not completely? Of course, the employer may not consider your resume if it does not fit some specific parameters. But if the position is really interesting, try to refine your resume in a way that will get the recruiter on your side.
Personal qualities: to write or not to write?
"Responsibility, communication, punctuality" - such words are in many affordable resume services. Are they really necessary? Don't these generalities distract from your real strengths?
Show the product in your face
Lately, more and more job seekers are accompanying their resumes with a photo. Can it help in the job search? There is no consensus among recruiters on this. On the one hand, why not show your face, especially if your face is pretty? First of all, this applies to those professions where appearance matters: receptionist, sales manager of perfumes and cosmetics, PR-manager. On the other hand, it is not easy to choose a photo for your CV. For most positions photos on the beach, weddings, with children, dogs, group photos, with a cigarette, etc. are absolutely not suitable.
Obviously, revising your resume to showcase your strengths for a particular job requires an audit of your entire professional experience. This work takes a lot of time, but we assure you that the effort will not be wasted: a well-crafted resume will open new career horizons for you.
